V festival Antics

Ello :)

I went to Vfestival for the second time on 19/08/17 with my lovely friend Emma. This post is going to be about who we saw, what the day was like and a compilation of photos and short videos from throughout the day!

We started off by watching Busted - my inner child self was very happy, then listened to Ella Eyre and later James Arthur while we had some lunch. We then went off to the comedy tent to see Lee Nelson for about 20 minutes and went over to the MTV stage to see the Vamps - who Emma was clearly obsessed with as i only knew like two of their songs. We then went over to see the last half of Madness - who i have always wanted to see live and got there just in time as they started singing their old stuff like baggy trousers and house of fun - i got very hyper at that point. We then saw Jess Glynne, Sigma, Sean Paul and finished the  night with P!nk.

We got into the festival about 11:30 and Busted didn't start until 12:10 so we just chilled for a bit and went to go find a good spot for Busted. They started with On What You're On from the most recent album Night Driver- they then went into the majority of old classics like Air Hostess, What I go to school for and finishing with Year 3000. If you like busted - or liked busted in your childhood and never got the chance to see them live i highly recommend seeing them live because they were very good and they set the bar for the rest of the day. They were very enthusiastic and made it their mission to get the crowd singing and jumping with them!

We then had a spot of lunch as we didn't really want to see anyone desperately until about 3:30 when Lee Nelson was on the comedy tent, The Vamps, who Emma adores, were on the MTV stage and Madness were on the main stage. So we sat and chilled while listening to Ella Eyre first who some people didn't know who she was but knew of her songs and then we listened to James Arthur , who was very good live and did a very good version of the Thong Song, which Emma didn't recognise until i started singing it to her.

We went over to go see a bit of Lee Nelson in the comedy tent, as he was on first. We couldn't really see him as we weren't inside the tent, we were at the back, on the grass, listening to his stand up. He asked the audience who was the youngest and there was an 11 year old boy who popped his hand up. Lee then asked him what was the rudest word he knew so Lee could filter his material and language around that - after about 2 minutes of waiting the little boy replied back with the C word much to everyone's surprise - he really was a little legend!

We then left Lee Nelson's set half way through to go and see the Vamps, who i didn't really know of/like all that much but Emma loves them so i happily obliged to go see them. I felt really odd in the audience as everyone was singing and dancing away - including Emma- and i was just standing there like a lemon as I didn't really know any of their songs apart from the last one -I don't really listen to chart music all that much. We saw the whole of The Vamps set and promptly - literally i was dragging Emma- to see Madness (one of my favourite bands, but only for their old stuff).

As it was halfway through their set i was so paranoid that we missed them doing their old songs and we would literally get Mr Apples (which i dislike very much even though it's rather catchy) but luckily i wasn't dissapointed. They went into One Step Beyond near enough straight away when we got there - and i got very hyper and had a jam, then went into the likes of House of Fun and Our House. They finished with the age old classic It Must Be Love - it was a great set to watch - even though i had to suffer through Mr Apples.

We decided after that we would watch George Ezra, who has been unheard of for a couple of years, who performed some of his new music for us (it was very good, i'm looking forward to his new album) and finished his set with the ever classic Budapest. We then had some dinner and chill while we watched Jess Glynne's set and then we got ready to party and watch Sean Paul. We made it over to the MTV stage where we were greeted by the end of Sigma's set - they were a very good "warm up" for Sean Paul - they got the crowd going and everyone was raving and dancing and having fun so it created the perfect atmosphere for Sean Paul.

We got absolutely squished at Sean Paul - god knows how that happened - there were two people in front of me who obviously didn't know about personal space as they kept dancing into me meaning i couldn't really move at all - once again i looked a bit like a lemon, i also lost Emma in the crowd at one point as someone pushed her back behind them. but after one song we were happily reunited! I still have no idea how this happened but Emma and I ended up on the cusp of a mosh pit during Sean Paul's set - i mean why would have a mosh pit for Sean Paul, mosh pits should be saved for rock bands! All in all it was a very good set and the setlist was great, i knew every song and was able to jam away in the end.

We then very slowly, gripping tightly on each other's hands made our way to the main stage to see P!nk. I absolutely adored P!nk when i was younger as i thought she was great because she was different and badass - she was a massive tomboy (like me) and she made fantastic music and some of her music really moves you like I want to be somebody else and F**king Perfect. The music started blaring out for Get the Party Started and P!nk was nowhere to be seen at first until this big ass crane came forward in front of the stage and P!nk was on the hook, she then proceeded to jump off it while it was in the air to which everyone gasped, including me, i did not expect that. The only disappointing thing about P!nk's set was that she didn't know the lyrics to What About Us which is her latest release and she explained it takes her about 4 years to remember the lyrics to her songs.

It was a great, fun filled day and i'd happily do it again!

That's it for today,
See you Next time,
S xoxo
