Ghostly Occurrences - analysing buzzfeed unsolved.

 Ello :)

As you know from my post September favourites - which you can read here- i'm a massive fan of Buzzfeed Unsolved True Crime and Buzzfeed Supernatural.

I'm a massive believer in the supernatural, more specifically ghosts and demons. Buzzfeed unsolved broken down into two categories Ryan Bergara (Boogaras) who are firm believers in ghosts and the supernatural and Shane Madej (Maniacs) who are disbelievers in the supernatural. I am more like Ryan in terms of my beliefs bt i have Shane's approach to dealing with ghosts and demons as well as thinking of every logical explanation for spooky occurrences before concluding the possibility that it was ghosts.

I thought I would analyse a recent episode of Buzzfeed Unsolved supernatural, mainly because i wanted to voice my opinions on the readings they pick up and because i have a lot to say when it comes to these episodes. Also i love the guys and the series so i thought why not? You may not share my opinion on my deductions but I encourage you to share your opinions on this blog - let me know what you think is a ghost, what you think is merely the wind or other logical explanations. I prefer watching this to other supernatural series like Most Haunted for example because most haunted seems severely staged whereas this series seems legit , they don't always come across hard hitting evidence - they don't always experience ghostly occurrences.

Without further ado, let's get cracking!

1). The Captive Spirits Of Eastern State Penitentiary - released 27/10/17

So for those who don't know in this episode Ryan and Shane go exploring in a horrible prison known for promoting solitary confinement - where in the beginning the prisoners had little/no interaction with anyone and were stripped of all information from the outside world and then eventually after solitary confinement was phased out became overcrowded.

1). Original Cell Blocks - *footsteps* 7:03 - It is clear you can hear footsteps although they sound like the shuffling of the feet - there was a maintenance man supposedly working on the day they went to explore the penitentiary so it's possible the shuffling could have come from him. There was also taps heard and Shane Whistling - as we could here Shane whistling could it be a first instance that actually the shuffling and the tapping may have possibly come from shane or from Shane's direction - there was also a cameraman with them so the cameraman could have easily shuffled/scuffed his feet on the ground. The bang however could be unexplained - however if you notice there are pipes all around the cells therefore couldn't it have been something to do with them?

2). The scuffling/ fast paced movements 8:31 - this is looking more like a ghostly activity than the logical explanations i shared before. Ryan says "i know you're here" and suddenly there is a loud scuffle of footsteps. It could have also been the maintenance man but in this instance it's looking unlikely.

3). Ghosthunters: 9:52 in an episode of ghost hunters it was noted that they seemingly saw a shadow of a ghostly figure running on the catwalk of cell block 12 - however Ryan and Shane were unable to detect this ghostly figure in their own research.

4). Cell Block 8, George Kopp - who was murdered by Joseph Havel. They use a spirit box which scans radio frequencies which creates white noise so that spirits can manipulate the box in order to communicate. 13:06- "oh boy get out" - i can make out the get out more than the oh boy. I would most likely put this down to ghosts rather than other explanations as the spirit box wouldn't be able to conduct that over its radio frequencies. I couldn't really here the "george" sound at all. but it is likely that a ghost occurs in that cell block.

5).  Maximum Security: 15:00 - To me that clearly sounds like the wind/ like a draft rather than a distant scream. The slight whimper was a strange piece of evidence though as logically apart from maybe the cameraman or the maintenance man i cannot gather as to who/what could have made that sound. i suppose potentially their could have been an animal lurking in the penitentiary as it sounded like the sort of whimper a cat or something would make.

6). Al "Scarface" Capone 17:00- 19:33 - although the spirit box recordings are compelling evidence for ghosts. it's rather strange to think that Al Capone only spent about 6 months in the penitentiary, didn't die in the penitentiary and yet haunts it. I personally always thought that ghosts haunted where their death occurred - but it seems here that ghosts can actually haunt the place that they found most haunting to them. According to inmates - al capone was tormented at the time by the constant thought of a lad named Jimmy - who supposedly was killed in the Valentine's massacre that Al Capone was thought to be a part of.

"go away" - i couldn't really hear anything apart from muffled sounds which could have just been radio interference.

"Shut up" - More compelling and a lot more clear and crisp as a phrase - likely a ghost but is it the ghost of Al Capone? it could have been anyone - just because Al Capone stayed there for 6 months doesn't mean no one was in that prison cell before him.
"Brown and White" - once again i'm not sure this is completely compelling because it's too muffled - when we heard George his sounded more crisp and clear - it does however, if you listen closely, does sound like brown and white which is a direct answer to the question Ryan asked and a radio frequency wouldn't be able to do that but a manipulation by a spirit can so it is likely a ghost is in Al Capone's old cell.

7). Cell 68 *whistling* 20:00- The whistling sounds very close, meaning it could be the maintenance man. however a whistle would make sense for a ghost in this cell block as it can be used as a signal or disguise when the men where digging the tunnel when they were alive.

Conclusion: I reckon the Eastern State Penitentiary is haunted but it seems to lack in how much spiritual activity i initially thought it would have considering all of the deaths and horrific circumstances to occur in the prison. The most compelling evidence i found in the episode was in Cell Block 8 when they put on the spirit box and "George" tried to communicate back with them. It's the clearest evidence - the phrases spoken by the spirit were crisp and clear and it provided direct answers to Ryan's questions.

That's It For Today!

See you next time, S xoxo
